I absolutely love Hamilton watches. Quartz, mechanical or automatic, they make for awesome field watches. One of their most iconic dial is the Khaki Field Mechanical. I purchased the brown dial variant from Jomashop when I was still a bit green when it came to understanding watch measurements. As someone with a small and flat wrist, the 47mm lug to lug along with the 38mm dial felt like the absolute maximum watch size I could wear. Could, but shouldn’t.

I’ve been waiting patiently for a while now in hopes of Hamilton releasing a 33mm-35mm version of the khaki field mechanical. This smaller size actually was used in their original field watches in the 90’s and earlier. While we aren’t quite there yet, I feel like the time is finally nearing closer and closer.
Recently, Hamilton released a quartz version of the Khaki Field. While there is the usual 38mm dial, my eyes lit up when I saw that a 33mm version was also available. Many watch manufacturers are slowly phasing back in smaller dial watches and it seems like Hamilton is following the trend as well. Here’s to hoping that enough users purchase the 33mm version to help further prove that there is a huge market for smaller watches. Unfortunately, quartz can be a hard sell to watch snobs and at $395, it makes it that much harder.

Hear my plea Hamilton. Please, please release a Khaki Field Mechanical dial in all its historic glory, unchanged, in a 33mm – 35mm version. Keep it thin just like with the 38mm version, with a lug to lug in the low 40mm and with a lug width of 16mm – 18mm and you will have my money day one. Not day two or three. DAY ONE. I am simply tired of looking either for alternatives of which there are few or having to buy a used vintage on eBay. I want the real deal! Make it happen, please!
