Project Silence – Movie

·

I love Korean movies like the next person and part of that owes to the fact that the majority of them are pretty damn good. At least for me, it’s extremely rare to find myself quitting on a Korean movie once it has been selected for viewing. I can’t say the same for American movies. While Project Silence doesn’t buck that trend, it’s hilariously bad. Loosed militarily trained killer dogs on a collapsing bridge? It sounds like someone in the creation department ran out of ideas and just picked whatever was up next. The movie feels like it tried to copy the Train to Busan formula with a little bit of A Quiet Place sprinkled in but failed miserably.

Ju Ji-Hoon plays the usual comedic hustler/scammer but soft-hearted type of character. He made the movie at least semi-enjoyable despite the ridiculous plot although I’m sure many others viewers would view him as that “irritating character that tries to always be funny and just won’t shut up”. I recommend viewers watch Ransomed. There, he plays a very similar type of role/character as in Project Silence, but with a much better story that is actually based on real events in the past. I was also saddened to learn that Lee Sun-kyun had passed away.
