Eileen – Movie

·

I’m so glad, once again, to not have been persuaded by the numerous trolls and idiotic posts on how bad this movie was. While psychological thriller movies can at times be so convoluted to the point where not even the directors themselves understand what they’re trying to do, with Eileen, I felt it was deep enough to make me ponder about it afterward but not enough to wrack my brains on an ambiguous type ending.

Thomasin McKenzie was perfect. She couldn’t have played the role of the lonely/nerdy/klutz and at certain times psychotic girl any better. While there’s a lot to unpack on the movie, I, for one, took the ending as is. While I know that some watchers would obviously want to complicate things up by wondering whether the character of Rebecca, played by Anne Hathaway, is real or just in her imagination, I chose the easy route this time. Not much was hinted that her character was anything but real and that whatever happened in the climax was again, anything but what actually happened on screen.

Awesome job by both actresses!
