You ever noticed how some song or beat seems so simple and hypnotic that you swear it is something you likely could have created on your own if you really had tried? Or at least that’s what you keep telling yourself. How can something sound so basic and even elementary at times, but when strung together in a specific sequence with some drums and bass thrown in, it all of a sudden gets transformed into a work of pure musical genius? Listen to it a couple of times and tell me I’m wrong. Tell me, that little sequence that makes the song so addictive isn’t something you likely could have tapped with your fingers on the table while conjuring that sound within your head?!
