The Devil’s Hour S2 – TV Series

·

I have to say, The Devil’s Hour, when it debuted on Amazon Prime, was one of those hidden gems that, should you happen to find it and give it a chance, you’d be greatly rewarded. Here in season two, things pick up right where things left off in season one. Being that it has been a few years since season one ended, I definitely had to go through a refresher course to catch up. With that finally out of the way, it was time to dive right back in! Just what madness will Gideon get into this time around?

The Devil's Hour Season 2 movie

So at its core, season two is mainly about Gideon, with the eventual help of Lucy, wanting to stop a bombing of a toy store from taking place. Because Gideon already knows that the event will happen combined with these abilities to be reborn/time travel back each time while retaining the knowledge of his previous life, he made it his primary mission in his current life and timeline to discover who the bomber is and attempt to stop him. At the same time, Lucy seems to have awakened her ability to also remember the events of her past life and joins Gideon in his pursuit of the bomber. But it’s a one-and-done deal. If she helps Gideon achieve his goal, he must promise to forever not bother her ever again. I didn’t see a pinky swear between the two, so who knows? 🤷‍♂️

Chocolate!!
I see what you guys not-so-cleverly did there…but I’ll let it go this once. 😉

Oddly enough, I had an easier time following the beginning with Lucy than as the show progressed. So from what I gathered, we have two major Lucy timelines to follow. Although technically she has lived through much, much more timelines, we only have to keep up with two (thank goodness). The first is where Gideon did not save her mom from blasting a hole through her face, and Lucy ended up as a delinquent. She ended up as a detective due to her ability to deduce things around her. In that timeline, she partners up with Ravi, eventually catches Gideon and spends the rest of her happy life married until her last dying days. On the other side, we have Gideon saving Lucy’s mom and Lucy herself growing up to be in the social services department. It is in this timeline I believe we are currently in for the majority of season two.

Peanut butter tomato sandwich?!
What in the abomination is this?! I had to look this up and discovered it’s actually a thing!!

Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine shine even brighter here in season two. Gideon always has that look that reminds the audience that while he’s out to save lives, he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals, turning himself into some sort of crazed maniac. Lucy this time around looks to be more active and in control of things than in season one, from what I can remember. When it comes to the ending, I am in the camp who believed Lucy did die due to the shotgun blast in the face from Gideon (we don’t actually see this). Isaac calling her out right before the credits rolled; I believed he may have jumped to a different timeline in which Lucy, although technically not really Isaac’s mum, was still alive. As to the mysterious bomber himself, it’s still not clear who it could be. The only clue I got is that it’s likely a man. We saw hints of a mustache in one quick scene. Could it be a future Issac from a different timeline? This is most likely at this point, as he’s the only one that can actually disappear out of thin air and go through different timelines. Could it be another version of Gideon or someone that has similar abilities as him? He had the chance to kill him when he got the drop on Gideon but decided not to. Maybe there are some things that can’t be changed, regardless of how badly someone wants to. Season three can’t get here fast enough!
