From S3 – TV Series

Where do I even begin with this shit show of a season 3? Oh, I know! How about how after patiently waiting for this new season to drop, hoping to finally get some answers, we are somehow left with even more questions than ever before? The first two seasons were enjoyable. Both obviously required patience and for those that have less than myself, I can see why they were upset with them. With season 3 finally here, we would have all thought that the story could somehow progress further. More importantly, I was hoping for things to be explained where the monsters were concerned. How are the inhabitants trapped in this bubble world of seemingly no escape? Why and how does the rock talismans prevent them from entering a house? Why do the monsters only come out at night? What exactly is their purpose other than wanting to kill and torture the inhabitants? Who is that old man in the cave? I mean, that’s not asking a lot, is it? These should be obvious questions after 20 freaking episodes? But of course, they couldn’t freaking make it that simple, could they. It seems like they are milking this franchise for every last drop they can and stretching it for another God knows how many for fucking seasons.

From: Season 3

Let’s start off with the most glaring issue I have with season 3: IT.IS.FRIGGING.SLOW.AS.FUCK. Now, like I mention above, both the first two seasons could also be considered slow for many, but absolutely nowhere SLOW LIKE THIS. Now only is it slow, but it committed the ultimate sin as well in that it made me start to NOT GIVE A FUCK about anyone anymore. Character development ultimately stagnates and goes absolutely nowhere for everyone except for very few exceptions. How on earth did they think that this was okay? They could have turned each of the 10 episodes into so much more, but they of course not. They had to stretch the conversations and drama that each person is going through for the entire damn season. The monsters show themselves, what, two or three times in the beginning couple of episodes and that’s it? If you’re wondering if more details will emerge about them, you’re not going to get it.

Just
I definitely feel like I can relate to Jade the most. 🫡 🫡

Let me see if I can recap each character and what I think about them:

Boyd: He is the same ol’ Boyd as we know him. For better or worse, that’s not too bad of thing I guess? Someone has to be the star of the show and it sure as hell can’t be any of the other male leads. After what he has to go through in the beginning of the season, it’s nice to see that he’s somehow finally breaking down and mentally snapping at times. Sick of playing defense, I had hope when he finally suggested capturing one of the monsters in the beginning. Finally, we’d get to see some action. But oh no, no….how dare I even had hoped to believe something as cool as capturing a monster would actually manifest itself in this shit show season. That would have been too fun to watch, and we now know that the producers of this show wouldn’t want any of that fun stuff for us to watch.

Jim: Same ol’ Jim, husband to Tabitha, that we know of. I’m not exactly sure what his value was in this season? Sure, he plays the overprotective husband and father at times but what else exactly in this season? Oh wait, I remember. It’s not until literally the very last episode and in the latter half to be more exact, that he makes a contribution that I can remember when it came to the numbers in the bottle thing.

Tabitha: You had one job Tabitha, one job: GET HELP. 🤣 I had so hoped that they weren’t going to pull that bullshit with her but of course, they had to. Welcome back! OK, so her role/power is that she can see the dead children along with a surprise reveal, again, in the very last episode because of course, they need to slow burn that shit in the next season. Hooray? NOT.

Julie: Other than having to babysit Ethan at times, it looks like she’ll also have a bigger role to play in the future after discovering the ruins? Are we talking about time travel? Being able to traverse timelines? Yeah, don’t expect anything more. But hey, at least she smokes weed, so she’s ok with me.

Ethan: Same boy.

Donna: Literally the same Donna as the first two seasons with absolutely nothing changed at all nor any specific role other than caring for Colony House and venting to Boyd and vice versa.

Kristi and Marielle: Literally the same characters with nothing much changed.

Jade: The one person it seems that actually seems to want to figure shit out.

Kenny: Same Kenny as first two seasons.

Victor: Seems like there was a lot of fluffing and padding where he is concerned, but with nothing actually mattering? 😂

Acosta: Why exactly was she introduced in the series if she wasn’t going to play a specific role or have any meaningful contribution in the season?

Fatima and Ellis: Not gonna lie, Ellis is kinda useless? Again, not exactly sure what purpose he serves other than being Boyd’s son? They also seriously couldn’t condense that whole baby arc in to one or two episodes to get it over with and move on? I got confused with this part. Was the baby actually real or not? It had to be the former, otherwise what was Boyd witnessing in the end with the Kimono lady in the cave? I guess I can explain the ultrasound issue where no baby was shown in her uterus to some voodoo type shit, but then is that also to explain how she Kimono lady was able to extract the fetus so early? Curiously, why did Elgin play the role he did in this arc instead of Ellis, someone who is actually closer to Fatima? At a certain point, I didn’t want to give a shit anymore.

I know Victor, I know. I was the same going in thinking that season 3 would be the best one yet.

With that, what can I really say about season 3 if it hasn’t been obvious by now? It was such a wasted opportunity. Instead of expanding on the lore and having the story progress in a more exciting fashion, they yet again introduced more and more questions and elements that beg to be at least somewhat explained or answered within the season. Who the fook exactly is the Kimono lady? Is she to be the mother figure for the monsters? Why are the kids chanting “Anghkooey” in that specific language of theirs? Why exactly do they have to be so damn secretive and make everything so hard if they are trying to help? What is the purpose of the frigging light tower that Tabitha was pushed out of at the end of season 2? 10 fucking episodes and they couldn’t even give any hints to this one simple question. That’s almost 10–11 hours, and they can’t even do us this one service. Oh, and who the hell is that monster at the very end fighting with Jim? Is he supposed to be someone special or just a normal one? But if so, how is he able to come out during the day all of a sudden?

Hey producers, can you please do this for me next season and start making the show more exciting again? Many viewers I’m sure would be grateful.

I swear, I’m going to lose my shit if season 4 continues like this. 😭 Being as how Tabitha and Jade has now learned of having already lived in that world once in their previous life and is now having a second go of trying to save the kids, I can kind of see season 4 as maybe going in the way of a prequel to show the viewers are all this shit began. I can predict that will take up the entire season, though hopefully not, with season 5 as being the finale. It would be illegal to keep milking this shit.
