You gotta love Korean comedy. They seriously do it like no other. Although every country have their own brand of comedy in movies, the Korean version is usually the one I find myself laughing out loud each and every time! I swear, they can make a comedy out of any situation if they so choose to. With 6/45, we discover a South Korean solider posted in the DMZ having found a winning lottery ticket. However, he would soon lose possession of the ticket and unfortunately, it has flown over the DMZ line into the North Korean territory. Hilarity then ensues when more soldiers are involved, and a plan is then hatched to retrieve the lottery ticket.

The 38th parallel is one of the more known demilitarized military zones in the world. Although there are other such demarcation lines in other countries, the 38th parallel is the one that usually gets talked about the most. Clearly a comedy movie, it pokes fun at both sides, although I’d have to say that it’s more at the expense of the North Korean side. It does a highlight some of the major differences in lifestyles between the two countries with, of course, more comedy thrown in to lighten the mood somewhat.

There’s usually not much to analyze with these over the top comedic movies and that’s completely ok with me as it’s obviously meant for the viewers to have a good time. I did love that ending, though. I felt it was the right thing to do. Instead of making a happy ending, even a comedy such as this acknowledges that both the north and South Korea won’t be going through a reunification process anytime soon and that both sides will just have to stick it out and do their best until that day happens.
