Werewolves – Movie

And there it is. It didn’t take long. The first movie I’ve encountered in the year 2025 that I instantly knew would be horrendously horrible within the first 5-10 minutes. 🤣 Personally, I’m not an avid werewolf fan. However, I do appreciate the lore it can bring. I can’t even remember the last good werewolf movie I watched. Maybe it was Werewolves Within? Underworld? Heck, it could even go all the way back to the original An American Werewolf in London? Anyway, that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that Werewolves, starring Frank Grillo, is absolutely trash. Everything from the garbage story, CGI effects, acting at times, and dialogue is enough to make me want to turn into a werewolf myself so I don’t subject myself to having to watch any more of this horrendous movie.

It’s movies like Werewolves that makes you appreciate how other full featured films can be so good in comparison. At a full hour and thirty minutes or so, I thanked them for not extending the torture any longer than necessary. I mean, I guess the story could have been expanded and explored a bit more in detail if it was produced and directed by more talented people. I mean, a full moon super event suddenly turning people into killer werewolves ain’t particularly new but no explanation was given to explore this further. I wasn’t even sure if everyone under the moon would be afflicted or only certain people. But by the way the characters were going about it, it would seem that everyone had the potential to turn this time around?

Kill all werewolves!!!!
Don’t even get me started on this cringe dude. If y’all think dude was gonna survive, you clearly haven’t watched enough movies! 😂 😂

Lou Diamond Phillips. Hot damn… that really is Lou Diamond frigging Phillips. I had thought the dude looked familiar in the beginning, but is that really him? So basically, the majority of the film features an experiment gone wrong in a lab to test whether spraying someone with a substance will prevent them from turning under the full moon. The test subjects escape, and you then have basically Wesley and Amy hauling ass to safety with no real destination. Like Wesley said, “we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.” 🤣 Occasionally, we have to watch scenes of Lucy and little Emma at home just waiting for shit to eventually happen because, of course, shit eventually has to happen. There were some scenes that were just absolute cringe, and I couldn’t help but bust out loud laughter. Wesley apparently is an incredibly smart molecular scientist, but the film likes to not remind us of this fact, instead suggesting that he’s more of an incredibly capable gun-toting werewolf-killing foot soldier who also happens to be incredibly ripped and jacked. 😂 To be fair, the guy is almost 60 years old. To still be able to maintain that physique is nothing short of amazing for most normal people, so good for him.

Survive this!
Uhh, if you suffer from photosensitive epilepsy you won’t. The amount of strobing and flashing lights to create the cheap effects in this movie is borderline illegal.
What happened?
Yeah you’re right….y’all was supposed to get a IMDb score of less than 4. 🤣

I mean, really, what are we talking about here? Werewolves is a laughably bad movie. I think most people would agree. There were some pretty good-looking scenes with the werewolves (CGI?), but that was about it. Are they setting up for Werewolves 2? Is Wesley going to be able to save the world by increasing the longevity and effectiveness of the secret moon sauce with another group of scientists? Was there a brief moment in the end shared between him and his deceased brother’s wife to hint at something later on? And you know what? No one likely gives one iota of attention to what I just said if they even made it to the end of this movie. 😂
