I’m sorry, Hong Kong’ers, but I’m hearing a lot more catchy and memorable songs coming out of Taiwan each week on Spotify, and it’s not even close. A lot of the songs coming out of Hong Kong from the playlist I’ve subscribed to on Spotify are just plain boring. Whereas in Taiwan, their R&B hits are just amazing. I’ve been noticing this trend for quite some time now, so who knows if that will change for me. But in this episode, I’ve discovered a Taiwanese actress and singer, Angela Zhang.

Because I don’t know the majority of these artists overseas, I don’t have much to write about them. Throughout my work day, I just blast random Spotify playlists I’ve followed, and when a song comes on in the background that catches my attention, I almost immediately save it. For this episode, I want to highlight her song, “Twilight Echo,” or at least that’s what I think it translates to. Her high-pitched voice is a heavenly match for this song. Usually, I don’t like voices that go too high, with very few exceptions, but her voice here adds such a haunting and chilling effect to it that I just can’t help but listen to it over and over again. I’ve tried listening to a few of her other songs on YouTube, with some of them pretty upbeat and positive, and while they are good, I feel she really shines in “Twilight Echo”.
