Ju-On Origins – TV Series

·

Hey guys, look it here: this mini six-episode series is some BAT SHIT CRAZY STUFF! Seriously, what the fuck happened here?! 😂 To be sure, it has been a long while since I watched anything related to Ju-On. In fact, it was likely just the original movie that I watched and not much after that. But I at least remembered it was about a haunted house and that boy…oh yeah…that damn boy. 😂 I remembered it scared the shit out of me back then, though. Rather than watching all the other sequels, which I assume will likely just be the same story but with different people, someone suggested this series on Reddit, and with it being only six episodes, it was an easy binge to see how it all got started. Honestly, after having watched all six episodes, I still don’t know. Like I have an inkling of an idea, but the story and direction are just too awkwardly put together, which ultimately made it extremely confusing.

So it’s obvious that in the first episode, we see a newly transferred high school student was lured to the abandoned house by her classmates only to be sexually assaulted. OK, so I assumed that she’s going to be the creepy woman in white? But alas, no, that’s not to be because after the assault, she crawls into a tiny attic space and sees the ghost. Uhhh okay? Later, she escapes her mother’s place with the guy who assaulted her and we find out she’s pregnant with a boy. Their life then goes downhill from there. We later learn that this kid somehow is able to sense stuff and tells the other characters to “run away” in that creepy voice. Obviously the couple are traumatized by everything and eventually the mom kills the dude in later episodes but I fail to connect the dots with the kid.

Drink this!
Sure honey, of course I’ll drink this right AFTER you casually telling me about how the baby isn’t mine, how you were never happy with me, that you only slept with me to pretend the baby was mine while thinking of the other guy the whole time while we were doing it and that you’re going to spend the rest of your happy days with him and his baby. Sure! I’ll drink to that! 😂 😂 😂

We then have the other stories of couples moving into the house and also experiencing similar horrors. The craziest being the two couples whose wives were cheating with the men of the other couples living in the haunted house. The sequence of this one was just nuts. It was gory and the telephone? I mean that was just insane. So the guy buries the baby in the yard of the haunted house, knowing that it wasn’t his. But still, I failed to connect the dots with just what it all meant in later episodes. The woman ghost seems to want to be “buried together” with the baby. But how does that make sense? She can’t be the mother ghost because the actual mother was just murdered and we all know the house was haunted way before this event happened. We then see Haruka burying the cassette tape next to the baby. Like WHAT? Speaking of which, during this scene, is she just going to really ignore that her dead boyfriend’s mother is now a ghost as well when the last time they were in that house together she was perfectly fine? WTF? Oh and WHO THE FUCK is that crazy man in the white underwear in the last episode?! Like how does this make sense?!?!?! Also, how the hell did that dude just simply explode in the middle of the street outside of the haunted house and vanish out of thin air? Yes, he really just exploded and left a burnt hole in the ground. What is going on?!?!?!?!?! 🤣 🤣 😂

WHAT?!
I can’t even try to explain this…Like I can’t even…🤣 🤣 🤣

So yeah, this series is just bonkers. The problem isn’t the timeline. It only spans a couple of years, maybe a decade or so? The issue is more of how they bring things up, and then in the next scene, everything gets skipped over, and the story seems to just go back to normal as if nothing happened. This right here is why I think it made the story so damn confusing. Oh that and not really explaining things. And this is coming from someone who binge-watched it in a day or so. The first two episodes or so were okay. I was just waiting for the explanations to drop as the story progressed, but it just got weirder and weirder with inconsistencies. Don’t even get me started on the story about the story collector dude. He goes back to his house after all these years, and it kind of tells the story about what happened there when he was just five years old, but like so many other parts, I have no frigging clue what it’s supposed to mean in the overall story and how it has to do with the woman ghost and the kid, or whatever the hell is haunting the place. I love the psychological drama and horror themes the series deals with but they seriously needed to tighten the story up. I don’t know if I can handle a season 2. 😅
