Can I get a B… can I get a O… can I get a R….. You get it. Yeah, I know, lame as hell, but you know what? That’s exactly what this movie feels like. Holy dear mother of all things that are dear to me. This was such a pathetic closure to a mainstream horror series that has seen better days. Wow. I mean, I vaguely remember the first two movies or so in the franchise being somewhat good for what they were. I also remember that the last couple of movies were fairly junk. I had high hopes that the series wouldn’t go out with a whimper and at least give us something to remember it by. Man, was I wrong in so many ways.

Right off the bat, the biggest problem is that we spent almost 1 hour and 30 minutes….read again folks, ONE HOUR and 30 MINUTES on the story of Ed and Lorraine’s daughter’s love story. Folks, the run time of this movie is 2 hours and 15 minutes or so, and of course, five minutes or so goes to rolling credits. OK, obviously I’m exaggerating a bit, but seriously, what are they trying to do, spin up a new series in the future based on the daughter? Would it then not be based on a true story or would it? Anyways, doesn’t matter. All I know is that they spent way too much time on her instead of focusing on the Smurl family and, you know, the haunting. Like, real talk, I was actually a lot more interested in the Smurl family case than Ed and Lorraine.

As the last case that they’d take on in their careers, I’d expect at least some type of explanation or backstory of some sort on the demon that is patiently waiting for them. The only thing I remember is them mentioning that this demon was one of the first ones they battled and that they’d run away from. Instead, we get a love story, a few quick jump scares, and an awfully fast spinning mirror. OK.
I’m done with this one. I’m not even sure what more there is to say.
