I do listen to a lot of Chinese rap songs mainly because a lot of American hip-hop and rap I’m so used to just isn’t cutting it anymore. They’re barely worth a repeat listen, and it takes forever for an actual good project to drop that caters to an older head like myself. I remember the first time listening to Skai Isyourgod’s “Stacks On All Sides” and believed it was just miraculous. Bro has since blown up. His song is in NBA 2K to my surprise and, equally shocking, I saw he was featured in a Bloomberg article about Chinese rap. Freaking amazing.

Spotify has been good at continuing to recommend rap artists and songs from China, Hong Kong, and even Singapore at times. But one Asian country that’s next up to bat is none other than Taiwan. I ain’t got much to say because I have no idea what the song is about. But if I have to judge from the music video and vibes alone, maybe it’s about the usual swag and braggadocio of the young? I also couldn’t find too much about the artist, for now.

This song is the next contagious thing I’ve got saved, and it’s obvious it will only get bigger and more popular. The song seems to have only been released in February of this year. Will bro be as big as Skai? I don’t know, but this song definitely feels like the springboard to his career. He has yet to put out an album, so we’ll see how that goes. But my goodness, this song is literally stuck in my head. I’ve been trying to translate the YouTube comments, but so far I haven’t read anything too useful. Based on the title, maybe it has something to do with Chinese/Western culture or ritual? The whole G-Unit jerseys, dancing, the little bicycles, etc, might represent some legacy gangster culture.
