I mean, sure. If you want a ton of violence, gore, body entrails, and blood, Evil Dead Burn will likely be a contender of the year in that category. There’s not much this movie can offer now that it’s the fifth or sixth in the franchise. Yep, it’s one of those action horror movies, and if you expect anything else, you’re likely going to be disappointed. But then again, weren’t all the movies in the franchise similarly violent and gory? I can’t remember. But it doesn’t matter as viewers need to know absolutely nothing going in to this one.

So, an ancient curse gets reawakened, possesses and dooms a family, and the only thing that can stop them is a mythical dagger. Sounds about right for the two minutes it probably took someone to make that up. But hey, violence and gore, remember? Distract and give the viewers what they want and who cares about anything else. I don’t know what else to say about this movie, really. I mean, half of the movie or more is really just Wrestlemania between the family members in an old and derelict house.

That ending though. I mean, come on, you older heads can’t tell me it doesn’t remind you of another movie that rhymes with “the Germinator.” Like, seriously, this has to be a parody and there’s no way the director didn’t think the same. Maybe they wanted to pay homage to it? But it was just hilariously goofy. Then we have the ending scene. I really enjoyed watching this two-hour movie, only to be told that of course—and I mean absolutely frigging of course—that the curse somehow, some way, ends up tainting the lone survivor. How or why did that happen? I doubt anyone remotely cares. Then we have the short hidden end-credit scene involving Grandma crawling on the road only to attack a lady trying to help. I think they relied on Grandma one too many times in the movie to provide some comedic relief, and this last scene was just too cringe at that point. These directors seem to have no clue what they want this movie to be at times, and it shows.
