This is absolute bollocks. After the absolute shitshow that was The Boroughs and The Last House, I can’t believe it took a mini animated series about a group of foul-mouthed cats to wash the bad taste that was left from those two Netflix specials. In what is likely one of the most stupid, gross, vile, yet heartwarming and hilarious animated shows I’ll watch this year, Alley Cats is just the show I didn’t realize I needed at this very moment. This series is so stupid and classless, yet I found myself so endeared to it because of exactly those very reasons.

I don’t even know what to say at this point. A bunch of stray cats with absolutely no chance of being adopted and with nothing going on in their lives each day all of a sudden find a stray little kitten who has lost her way from home and needs help getting back. The gang decides to help her and, along the way, hilarity and mischief ensue. It’s not so much the mischief but the back-and-forth banter between them that will either turn you away completely, wondering why on earth anyone ever gave the green light to produce this nightmare of an animated series and leaving you hoping to block it out so your kids never find it, or it will drive you to finish the six quick episodes all in one sitting.

Make absolutely no mistake about it. If this show doesn’t turn you off within the first five to ten minutes, you’ll be good to go for the rest. That’s right. It doesn’t even take one full episode for you to know if this is up your alley or not. The star cat is obviously Gus, but I think everyone’s favorite will be Puke due to his absolute vulgarity and the ability for him to hump absolutely anything moving and that has a hole. The back and forth between Gus, Puke, Fangs, and Ponce during the beginning of each episode is absolute gold for something that’s usually so stupid.

However, I love how the show can also get absolutely dark in a heartbeat. Sure, these moments are few and far between, as well as being very quick, but they highlight the shit lives these misfits lead on a daily basis in the real world. I really hope that there will be a season two. It’s a quirky, short, and fun animated series. I’m wondering if it wins the contest for the most cuss words thrown out of any show out there based on just runtime alone. There literally have to be at least 15–20 “fucks” and “cunts” thrown in per episode. 🤣 🤣
